CWIT has made me feel more welcomed at UMBC. The people in the program are like family to me. They make me feel more engaged in the wonderful environment within UMBC. As a freshman, I am already involved in UMBC’s VSA, Society of Women Engineers, and the IEEE organization. I also took part in coding and robotics competitions. Although they may not seem much, these competitions have given me experience of being a computer engineer; they gave me opportunities to practice on my coding skills. Currently, I am majoring in Computer Science. I chose to study this major because personally, I want to be involved in cybersecurity. The thought of protecting computers from cyber threats always fascinated me. And through the courses that I am currently taking, I can learn how cybersecurity can work on the physical and software levels.
