My almost-four-years at UMBC are the best thing that’s happened to me. I am in love with the creative, intellectually stimulating, inclusive, and involved culture of this campus. I have been especially blessed by CWIT in so many ways. CWIT has helped me to find friends, internships, and my passion. One of the most amazing things I’ve learned from CWIT is how necessary technological education is to all aspects of our changing world and that computer science doesn’t have to look like a broom-closet programmer–I’m planning on becoming a sociologist! Throughout my academic career, I’ve been involved in a lot of rewarding initiatives and internships, including two positions with the Army Research Laboratories, a volunteer summer program at the International Rescue Committee working with refugees, a learning assistantship with the physics department, and my current job, UMBC’s clicker customer support intern. Post-graduation, I will be starting an AmeriCorps service program with the Community Technology Empower Project (CTEP) in Minneapolis, helping bridge the digital divide by teaching basic computer skills to low-income individuals seeking employment. I can’t wait to see what else the future has in store.
