The main thing that drew me to choosing computer science as my major was the problem-solving aspect of it. Despite its name, computer science sometimes feels like more of an art than a science, especially when it comes to the design and programming facets. I really enjoy the process of figuring out which solution might be best for any given problem. Being part of the CWIT/Cyber family has given me a community of individuals who share similar interests as me, and gave me the chance to meet some of my really good friends. The Cyber Scholars program also gives me incredible networking and mentoring opportunities that I most likely would not have had if I were not part of this community. Most importantly, though, this program gives me the chance to learn and grow both as a person and as an ally to all women and minorities in the tech industry. The various trainings and seminars that CWIT hosts about allyship have been very beneficial to me. These programs have helped me understand various viewpoints and experiences that differ from my own; and for that, I am grateful.
