I first chose Computer Science because of its challenge and need for diversity. After learning more about the field of Computer Science at UMBC it has become more apparent to me how information and technology will greatly affect our future. With my degree I plan to expose more women and minorities to information and technology and decrease the gender gap between men and women in computing. While choosing a degree path within the technology field is not easy, the reward outweighs the challenges. Attending UMBC, I have been offered the opportunity to be in a learning environment created for ultimate success. Being a part of CWIT you have no other choice but to be successful. You are surrounded by great mentors and like-minded students that will be with you every step of the way. I also have opportunity to volunteer with our Multiple Sclerosis Swim which is the most rewarding experience I have had on campus. I look forward to seeing what my next chapter at UMBC holds.
