About the Program
Mentoring is an integral part of the CWIT Scholar experience. The Industry Mentoring Program pairs junior year Scholars with experienced professionals who provide guidance on career exploration, professional development, and networking.
Mentors commit to one academic year (September–May) and are matched with students based on their expertise, industry, and the student’s goals. Many partnerships continue beyond the formal program.
Who Can Be a Mentor?
Industry professionals from private companies, government agencies, and beyond are encouraged to apply. While mentors are typically from companies and government agencies that already have a relationship with UMBC, The College of Engineering and Information Technology (COEIT) or UMBC’s Career Center, no prior affiliation with UMBC is required—just a willingness to share time, skills, and insights.
